The program is 16-weeks long and is open to those who are:
-Less than 5 years in Canada
-Over the age of 18
-Can read, write and understand English
-Are eligible to work in Canada.
-During the first 12-weeks participants receive:
-Culinary and employment training (once a week).
-During the remainder 4 weeks participants complete:
-A placement to get further work experience (once a week).
Every Friday, participants will receive 3 hours of culinary in-kitchen training in a commercial kitchen, facilitated by a professional chef.
They also receive 3 hours of employment skills training facilitated by a job developer to help them find a job in the food sector along with an hour of lunch break.
Timing and location for this program:
-Every Friday 9 am- 4 pm.
-Classes are held at The Honorable William G. Davis Centre for Families, 60 West Drive, Suite 201, Brampton, L6T 3T6, ON.
During this program participants receive:
– Free training and help finding a work placement
– Assistance with transportation (Presto or Gas Card)
– Free childminding (For the 12 weeks at the class location)
– Food Handler Certificate
– Smart Serve Certificate
– Uniform and safety shoes
