Safer Families

Safer Families is a collaborative program run by Catholic Family Services of Peel-Dufferin, the Peel Children’s Aid Society (PeelCAS), and Family Services of Peel. The goal of the Safer Families program is to respond in a helpful and supportive way to families who have experienced family violence.  Referrals are primarily made through Peel Children’s Aid Society (Peel CAS).

How we are working together for safer families:

• When Peel CAS receives a referral that a family maybe experiencing family violence, they can introduce this program to the family or members of the family.
• A counsellor attends the home with Peel CAS worker to provide support, counseling, referrals and assess the safety of all members of the family.
• The Peel CAS worker and the counsellor work together with the family to ensure that their goals are being met, they are receiving the support they need and ultimately working with the family to ensure everyone remains safe.

All referrals to the Safer Families program must go through the Children’s Aid Society.
